Detailed Description

Corypha umbraculifera grows naturally in tropical monsoonal climates.  It flowers towards the end of its life (approx. 80 years) with a spectacular inflorescence that contains several million flowers.  Parts of the Talipot Palm may be used to make paper, medicines, food and goods including sugar from the sap, and beads, buttons or ornaments from the seeds.  The juice may be used as a medicinal for upset stomachs.  This tree is not only a beauty to behold but also functional.
