Two trees will be planted towards the top of the hill on the property so that one day it will create shade over the main Retreat Center building. It will also be a great tree for the Howler Monkeys to climb.
The third one will be planted close to the welcome center creating an umbrella of shade as guests arrive.
Saman is a wide-canopied tree with a large symmetrical crown. It usually reaches a height of 25 m (82 ft) and a diameter of 40 cm. The leaves fold in rainy weather and in the evening, hence the name “rain tree” and “five o’clock tree” (Pukul Lima) in Malay. It has reddish pink and creamish golden colored flowers. It will grace our welcome center which will be named “The Rain Tree Welcome Center”.
