One of our favorite trees. Schizolobium parahyba, the Brazilian firetree, or Brazilian fern tree, is a tree species from tropical America, notable for its fast growth (up to 3 meters per year). We’ve planted two of these in the hardwood forest on the northwest corner of Siva Ashram. They will grow fast and tower over the other slow-growing hardwood trees and for some years you’ll be able to look up and see the full crown in yellow bloom.
